About Me

Cwtch – Welsh word for an affectionate hug. There’s no literal English translation, but its nearest equivlent is “safe place”. So if you give someone a cwtch, you’re giving them a “safe place”. Also used for hug, snuggle, protect. pronounced cutch Cwt as in put and ch as in chicken.  I came across this not long after I moved to Wales and the sentiment sums up all that is important to me.

In 2009 I moved to Wales I intended to start the simple life. You know the one.  More home cooking, baking, preserving. More sewing, knitting, crafting, furniture restoration. More reading, writing, listening to radio plays, studying. More hill walking, hiking, beach combing. In short more Living. Four years later I find myself  living between three different places and working in London. Life is all about an adventure and I never say no to an adventure. Although my latest path is not one I planned or would necessarily choose this is where I am right now. If you wish to then pull up a seat at my virtual kitchen table. Join me in my musings and share your thoughts. I love to chat as all my “real life” friends will tell you.

I love to travel but oer the last 9 years I have only left the UK on two short trips. Not a big deal as I am discovering how beautiful the UK is in my adventures with my campervan.

I started my original blog with a plan to show my crafting and furniture restorations. Like all good intentions though life got in the way and time to do these things became limited. I continue to blog about anything and everything  that I feel enthused to share.

  1. I love the idea of moving to Wales for a simpler life. I hope you enjoyed the four years you had there.
I totally agree that life is an adventure and we never know what is around the corner…

    • Thank you for that Joanna. I am pleased that you like my recipes but I am no chef and this blog is not an actual food blog, more a collection of witterings so I dont think your readers will find my place of much use. I will take a look there as I am always on the lookout for good recipes.

  3. Hey there Newbie Spikey!
(for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…
