Visting Aberystwyth always turns up some lovely second hand and vintage bargains.
Whilst living there I was a regular visitor to Craftrecycling in the centre of town. Like a magpie I would, invariably return with some little trinket or a nice piece of furniture. Their motto of reduce, reuse, re-enjoy sits well with me. The sun was shining on this particular afternoon and after a little retail therapy where better to wind up than my favourite beach.Tan y Bwlch is a great place to do a bit of beachcombing.
and seems to inspire many an artist
I’m sorry I digress from the shabby chic title. That is what Aberystwyth does to me, it takes me off in my own little directions.
Upon return I got out my paintbrushes and paint and set to work on the lovely (but dark) squat candlesticks.
Using my favourite Annie Sloan chalk paint is always an adventure in itself. I am never quite sure where the piece will take me.
These took me down the shabby chic french inspired route. I am rather pleased with how they turned out. Even more pleased that somebody else loved them too and they are now residing in a lovely new home.
On my way home I made a quick stop at a second hand furniture store close to the village I used to live in. Well, what can I say other than my boot was rather overloaded on the way home. That means more Shabby Saturdays will follow.
